Group holds rally for Georgia Human Life Amendment

A Georgia pro-life group is sponsoring a rally at the state capitol in Atlanta to bring attention to a very important amendment.

Pro-Life Unity is sponsoring the January 14 rally in support of Georgia's Human Life Amendment. The amendment establishes legally that human life begins at the moment of conception and ends with natural death -- effectively making abortion in any form illegal. Pro-Life Unity spokeswoman Jenny Hodges points out that the rally is scheduled the same day the Georgia legislative session begins. She says the goal of the rally is to force lawmakers to take up this amendment and, she hopes, pass it.

"In the past, the pro-life legislation is typically put in committees where it dies or is basically gutted. So you're pretty much passing a title once you get the bill to the floor of the House or the Senate," Hodges explains. "So ... the point of [this rally] is to impress upon the legislators that we know about this human life amendment -- [and] we expect them to pass it and get it to the people of Georgia for a vote."

Hodges argues this is a states-rights issue because the pro-life community has waited too long for Congress to deal with the faulty interpretation of constitutional law that has brought America to the wholesale slaughter of innocent babies, which is now a billion-dollar industry.
