Illinois Federation

For Right to Life

Daily News

'We’re seeing the push to create and destroy human life for research purposes, at any and all cost.'

There's some scary science coming out of the United Kingdom, where the government is considering sanctioning the creation of embryos that are part human and part animal, as well as the production of artificial sperm and eggs from embryonic stem cells.

The IFRL is the largest grassroots pro-life organization in Illinois. A non-profit organization, that serves as the state coordinating body for local pro-life chapters representing thousands of Illinois citizens working to restore respect for all human life in our society. The IFRL is composed of people of different political persuasions, various faiths and diverse economic, social and ethnic backgrounds. Since 1973 the Illinois Federation for Right to Life has been working to end abortion and restore legal protection to those members of the human family who are threatened by abortion, infanticide and euthanasia. Diverse though we are, we hold one common belief - that every human being has an inalienable right to life that is precious and must be protected. IFRL is dedicated to restoring the right to life to the unborn, and protection for the disabled and the elderly.   Click here to learn more about the IFRL.

British Government Considers Unethical Research

“We’re really seeing kind of a kid-in-a-candy-shop mentality, that researchers don’t like to be told ‘no,’ " said Dawn Vargo, associate bioethics analyst for Focus on the Family Action. "They like to be able to research the origins of life at every stage of development.”

Richard Doerflinger, deputy director of pro-life activities at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, called the research “incredibly wasteful” because it will destroy thousands of eggs.

Doerflinger said he believes the newly proposed research — with artificial sperm and eggs — will yield a most unethical outcome.

“We will only make the kinds of people that we want to have made, and we’ll make them for our own purposes," he said. "As often as not, we’ll be making them just to destroy them for their cells.”
