In this newsletter, I am going to tell you about just two of the attacks on CPCs involving the Feminist Majority Foundation and NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland.  And I will ask you to please send the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer a generous, tax-deductible donation to help us overcome the abortion lobby's over-the-top efforts to keep women from learning that abortion is unsafe and sometimes even lethal.

The abortion lobby's attacks on crisis pregnancy centers and pregnant women

In the last two years, the abortion lobby has stepped up its attacks on crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) by falsely accusing them of giving pregnant mothers misinformation about the risks of abortion.  The abortion lobby is unhappy that CPCs are warning mothers in crisis pregnancies about the risks of breast cancer, premature birth and emotional harm because it's bad for their abortion business!  They and their allies in politics and the media are working hard to propagandize women by representing abortion clinics as medical facilities and CPCs as fake clinics that cannot be trusted to provide accurate medical information.

The risks of abortion have been intensively studied for a half-century.  Several risks are so thoroughly documented and the sheer volume of evidence supporting those risks is so great that there can be no question that doctors who commit abortions are QUACKS!

The Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons reports that no animal studies demonstrating the supposed safety of vacuum aspiration abortion were ever conducted. [1]  Therefore, abortion is an unethical experimental procedure on women, and the abortion lobby is treating women like guinea pigs!  But those who profess to care about women - the Feminist Majority Foundation and the National Organization for Women - are completely silent about this injustice!

The abortion lobby doesn't want pregnant mothers to know that:

1) The Institute of Medicine, an organization of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, lists abortion as a risk factor for having a premature birth later in life. [2]

2) The Royal College of Psychiatry said pregnant mothers should be informed that abortion increases the chances of having mental health problems. [3]

3) Cancer experts universally agree that the younger a woman is when she has her first full term pregnancy (and the larger her family is), the lower her breast cancer risk is. [4]  Therefore, the childless woman who aborts has a greater risk than does the one who has a baby.

Certainly, it is better for teenagers to be abstinent before marriage, but shouldn't the already pregnant teenager have a right to know about the protective effect of childbearing?  The abortion lobby is physically abusing women by paternalistically censoring life-saving information!

The abortion lobby hates the fact that our brochures are being shared with pregnant mothers when they visit CPCs.  Our brochures (Abortion Raises Breast Cancer Risk and Why Aren't Women Being Told? The Most Preventable Cause of Breast Cancer) inform women about two risks of abortion - breast cancer and premature birth.  The latter brochure also warns about the cancer risk of using hormonal contraceptives containing steroidal estrogen and progestin.  You can view/purchase our brochures here: <http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/store/brochures>

It is urgent for us to help CPCs stand up to these bullies by arming more CPCs with the information contained in our literature and on our website and thereby giving them the confidence to report the risks to pregnant mothers.  We want to send a representative from the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer to national CPC conferences to ensure that as many CPCs as possible have access to our information and brochures.  Will you help make that possible by sending us a sacrificial donation?

Most recently, the misnamed Feminist Majority Foundation posted an ad on its website for a coordinator whose job will be to attack CPCs.  The foundation's project, "The Campaign to Expose Fake Clinics," is the latest in a series of vicious attacks on CPCs and pregnant mothers.

The foundation's leaders plan to take their campaign to college campuses to organize vulnerable, uninformed students who buy into the abortion lobby's misrepresentation of abortion and hormonal contraceptives as "reproductive health."  The way they talk, you would think abortion and hormonal contraceptives are as necessary for women's health as eating and breathing!

The Feminist Majority Foundation claims to be "dedicated to women's equality, reproductive health and non-violence."  That statement is disingenuous and outrageous!

Why are they viciously attacking the rights of pregnant mothers to know about the deadly risks of abortion?  Why do they demand "safe and legal" abortions when abortion is clearly unsafe and lethal?  Why are they so anxious for young women to have abortions and take cancer-causing steroidal hormones (birth control) during the most cancer-vulnerable time of their lives (before the birth of a first child)?

If they had the slightest concern for women, they would beat on the doors of the quacks in the abortion industry and demand that they warn women about the recognized risks of abortion and hormonal contraceptives! [2-5]

Earlier this year, CPCs in Maryland successfully fought off a legislative attack instigated by NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland.  NARAL prepared an undercover investigative report on 42 CPCs in that state and falsely accused them of misleading pregnant mothers about the risks of abortion and the services they provide.

NARAL's lack of objectivity is apparent.  You and I know that it serves NARAL's financial interests to gag CPCs so they won't report the risks of abortion.

But the CPCs defended themselves well against NARAL's attack by marshalling 45 to 50 witnesses to testify in both houses of the state legislature, including medical and scientific experts, post-abortive women mourning the loss of their children, CPC directors and some of the mothers the CPCs have served.  Fortunately, NARAL's attack gave CPCs an opportunity to educate legislators on the risks of abortion and the value of the services that CPCs provide their communities.

Clearly, the abortion lobby has no love for women, especially pregnant ones.  They want to stop federal funding for CPCs.  They want to bully CPCs into being silent about the risks of abortion because knowledge of these risks is bad for business.

History has shown that, once consumers learn that a substance causes cancer, many will avoid exposing themselves to that substance.  Just consider what happened once the public learned that cigarette smoking causes lung cancer and use of combined hormone replacement therapy causes breast cancer.  Sales of these products plummeted!
