Adult Stem Cells Show Promise for Organ Replacement
Researchers at the University of California, Davis, Children's Hospital have identified the adult cells that help to form the bladder, adding to the body of research that indicates a patient's own cells can regenerate many of the body's organs. |
"This is the first time that candidate adult stem cells of the lining of the bladder have been identified," said Eric Kurzrock, chief of pediatric urology at the hospital. |
The finding is described online in the American Journal of Physiology - Renal.
