Dear Pro-Life Friend.
We are confident that you are aware of the dangerous outcome of the 2008 election and the effect that it has had on the pro-life movement. Are you also aware that pro-lifers are proving to be even more committed to defending life than ever before?
Its true! Certainly you are aware that our January 22nd signature ad in local papers (three papers this year vs. one newspaper last year) and our two seminars in January more than doubled our efforts for the same time period last year. Anti FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) efforts are being done across the country by many groups with impressive numbers of individuals coming forward for the first time.
The challenges we face are critical but we are moving forward to meet them. Have you checked out our LCRL website recently? This site can help you stay up-to-date on legislative developments and the status of the School Based Clinic in Waukegan now that the School Board has decided to pursue that proposal once again. You may also want to checkout our new Facebook page on the net!
The deadline has now passed for the submission of essays for our first LCRL Youth Scholarship. New this year, it has been developed in an effort to invite our youth to commit their creativity and their enthusiasm in defense of the most defenseless. You are invited Lo renew your membership, or to become an active part of these vital efforts for Life by becoming a member of Lake County Right to Life. Our membership is the heart - the very core - of Lake County Right to Life. Without you we could not exist.
Our membership elects the LCRL Board each year at its annual meeting in April. This Board directs all activities for both LCRL and for the LCRL Educational Fund. Our members also determine the bylaws - the rules - by which the Board operates. We need vou now more than ever before - even if -or maybe in addition to - all you already do in pro-life church work, or with other pro-life organizations. We make this annual appeal in order to remain a vital organization and also in an effort to raise funds to maintain that part of our organization which is not tax-deductible.
This year, the annual meeting of Lake County Right to Life is scheduled for the evening of April 20,2009 at 7:30 PM at the Warren Township Senior Center (corner of Atkinson Road and Washington Street in Gurnee). We hope you will join us. (Please note that in order to be a voting member at that meeting, there is an April 1st membership deadline.) Working together let's make 2009 a banner year for Life in Lake County!
