Durbin and Democrats protect abortion industry, abandon rape and incest victims

MOKENA - On July 25, the U.S. Senate voted 65-34 to pass the Child Custody Protection Act (S. 403) a bill that would prohibit trafficking of minor girls across state lines for abortions without their parents knowing.

CCPA would also provide judicial help for girls being sexually abused by fathers or immediate family members.

But immediately upon CCPA's passage, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, representing the Senate Democratic leadership on behalf of the abortion industry, erected a procedural roadblock to try to kill the bill.

"Despite the fact that an overwhelming majority of Americans support laws mandating parental notification prior to minor abortion, Sen. Durbin and the Democrats consider the wishes of the abortion lobby first and foremost before girls' safety and parental guidance," stated Jill Stanek, President of Right to Life of Will County.

"Consider the following facts, admitted surprisingly by Planned Parenthood, the United States largest abortion provider," continued Stanek.

    • "Among women younger than 18, the pregnancy rate among those with a partner who is six or more years older is 3.7 times as high as the rate among those whose partner is no more than two years older." (www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/media /factsreports/)

    • "Teenage girls with older partners are more likely to become pregnant than those with partners closer in age." (www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/medic alinfo/teensexualhealth/fact-pregnancy-teens- us.xml)

    • "Teenagers who have been raped or abused also experience higher rates of pregnancy - in a sample of 500 teen mothers, two-thirds had histories of sexual and physical abuse, primarily by adult men averaging age 27." (www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/media /factsreports/)

"CCPA would close up a loophole that sexual perpetrators use to take girls from states with parental notification laws to states without them, such as Illinois," said Stanek.

"Illinois is a prime example of the need for CCPA," concluded Stanek. "Illinois is the Midwest's abortion dumping ground. Every state around Illinois has a parental notification law while it does not. Pro- abortion Sen. Durbin is merely trying to ensure Illinois' abortion industry runs business unimpeded. Right to Life of Will County urges Sen. Durbin to consider the wishes of Illinois citizens rather than those of abortion profiteers."
